On Sunday New Castle County Division of Police was involved in an incident that occurred near the Biden security checkpoint on Barley Mill Road.
Officials said at approximately 8:00 a.m., an officer was working at a stationary traffic control post at the intersection of North Buckridge Drive and Barley Mill Road when he observed a silver Hyundai stalled in the middle of the road.
The officer observed two male subjects in ski masks exit the car through the passenger side window and attempt to push the car. The officer along with a United States Secret Service Agent began to approach the vehicle when the subjects entered the vehicle through the same passenger side window.
The subjects fled in the vehicle onto North Buckridge Drive, a dead end. Shortly after entering the dead end, the car exited North Buckridge Drive and turned onto Barley Mill Road towards Centerville Road.
Officers converged on the area believing the vehicle had been stolen. At approximately 8:45 a.m., officers learned two male subjects matching the description of the subjects in the silver Hyundai were attempting to break into a car in the Brandywine Springs Parkland. Both subjects fled on foot into the woods leaving behind the Hyundai. After a lengthy K-9 track, officers located two teens, a 14-year-old Philadelphia teen and a 17-year-old Wilmington teen. Both teens were charged with the following: receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, conspiracy, criminal impersonation, and possession of burglar’s tools.
