Police Confirm Man Found Fatally Shot In Elsmere

Elsmere Police have confirmed the fatal shooting that only First State Update reported over the weekend.

Officials said at around 4:10 Saturday morning, Elsmere Police and New Castle County officers were dispatched to the 900 block of South Grant Avenue. Emergency response teams from Elsmere Fire Company, along with New Castle County Paramedics also responded to what was reported as an unknown medical problem.

Initially, the nature of the incident was unclear, and responders were prepared for a medical situation. However, as they were en route, updated information from the Elsmere Police indicated that the person had been discovered deceased on the sidewalk.

Officials said the victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting and the identity of the victim were not immediately disclosed.

In response to the incident, the Elsmere Police Department cordoned off the area during the investigation.
