On September 14, 2023, at 10:11 p.m., a motorcycle collision with injuries occurred on Interstate 495 southbound, near the North Dupont Highway Underpass in Wilmington.
Several emergency agencies, including the New Castle County Paramedics, Minquadale Fire Company, and Holloway Terrace Fire Company responded to the scene.
Officials said the incident involved a single patient, a 45-year-old male, who had been operating a tricycle-type motorcycle. The rider collided with the back of a work truck, resulting in injuries. Upon the arrival of the New Castle County Paramedics, the injured individual was found lying in the roadway.
The paramedics assessed the patient’s injuries, which included a possible head injury, extremity injuries, and possible internal injuries.
Subsequently, the injured motorcyclist was transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in critical condition.
The Delaware State Police are investigating the crash.
