Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police have charged 21-year-old Shakeem Ingram of Newark and 19-year-old Jyair Gordon of Wilmington in reference to their roles in a shooting from June 15 that occurred in Glasgow Park police said Friday.
On Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 1:29 a.m., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to 2199 Pulaski Highway in Newark in reference to a shooting in progress. Upon arrival at the scene, Officers located a large party dispersing from the parkland. Officers further located one juvenile victim who sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Detectives later responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
Following a lengthy investigation, Detectives identified two suspects, Jyair Gordon, and Shakeem Ingram. Detectives authored arrest warrants charging the suspects with one felony count of assault in the first degree, one felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and one felony count of reckless endangering.
Through collaboration with the Springfield (PA) Police Department, the New York Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service, law enforcement officers were able to take both suspects into custody.
Jyair Gordon was taken into custody in Springfield, Pennsylvania without incident. He remained in custody in Pennsylvania until August 10 when he was extradited to Delaware. He was arraigned by New Castle County Superior Court and held in lieu of $180,000.00 cash bail.
Shakeem Ingram was taken into custody in New York City on August 31, 2023. Upon being taken into custody, Ingram was in possession of a handgun police said. He remains in custody, pending extradition back to Delaware.
