The Delaware Renaissance Faire has returned in 2023, offering not just one, but three weekends of historical entertainment and activities. The event will take place on October 28-29, November 4-5, and November 11-12, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, with gates closing at 5:30 p.m. The venue remains the same as last year, at Fire Base Lloyd, located at 474 Fleming Landing Road, Townsend, DE 19734.
In addition to the previously announced features like live music, storytelling, historical sword combat shows, a petting zoo, and pony rides, the event will also include performances on three stages throughout each day. These performances will encompass a range of entertainment forms, including magic, juggling, music, and theater.
The Faire will also host an artisan marketplace featuring dozens of craft vendors, adding a shopping experience to the historical festivities. Food vendors will offer meals, and a locally sourced pub will provide hearty drinks, including the previously mentioned mead, cider, and fruit wine. For those looking to test their skills, the event will offer archery, axe-throwing, and dagger toss activities. Attendees can also interact with the many characters that will populate the village, and even engage in one-on-one combat with a knight.
A special treat is in store for families during the first weekend of the event, coinciding with Halloween. On October 28-29, children can go trick-or-treating at the craft vendors’ booths. An all-ages costume contest will also be part of the weekend’s activities, encouraging attendees to get creative with their attire.
Admission fees remain at $16 for adults and $11 for youth. Tickets can be purchased online, and more information is available on the Delaware Renaissance Faire’s website and social media platforms.
The Delaware Renaissance Faire offers a comprehensive experience for those interested in the Renaissance era, from performances and games to shopping and dining. With its expanded schedule covering three weekends, the event aims to provide even more opportunities for attendees to immerse themselves in the culture and history of the period.
