Driver Killed In Townsend Accident Saturday Morning

Emergency services were called to an accident on the 500 block of Blackbird Landing Road in Townsend at approximately Saturday morning.

Upon their arrival, first responders found a vehicle that had collided with a utility pole and was fully aflame upon their arrival. The presence of live electrical wires on the vehicle complicated to the rescue efforts.

The driver of the vehicle was found deceased and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the driver is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified.

Blackbird Landing Road is currently closed while investigators and utility crews work to secure the area.

Emergency services from the Townsend and Odessa Fire Companies, New Castle County Paramedics, and Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 were among the units that responded to the incident. Ongoing updates are anticipated as the investigation progresses.
