One-Year-Old In Critical Condition After Being Struck

The New Castle County Division of Police are currently investigating a motor vehicle crash involving a one-year-old pedestrian.

Officials said on Thursday at approximately 4:30 p.m., police responded to the 500 block of Canoe Club Road in Newark for the report of a motor vehicle crash.  Officers learned the 55-year-old operator of a 2004 silver Ford Ranger was traveling on Canoe Club Road when he struck the toddler.

FSU has learned that the child was being rushed to the hospital in a private vehicle and was met by first responders a short distance away on Salem Church Road. Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 landed there and the victim was airlifted to Alfred I. DuPont Children’s Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
