Person Of Interest Sought In Maryland Judge’s Killing

HAGERSTOWN, MD – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has launched a homicide investigation following an incident that occurred on the evening of October 19, 2023. At approximately 8:00 PM, deputies were dispatched to the 19100 block of Olde Waterford Road, Hagerstown, Maryland, in response to a reported shooting.

Upon their arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered an adult male victim in the driveway of a residence. The victim had sustained apparent gunshot wounds and was immediately transported to Meritus Medical Center for medical treatment. Regrettably, despite efforts to save his life, the victim succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Washington County, Maryland Circuit Court Judge Andrew Wilkinson, a 52-year-old resident of Hagerstown. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and due to the ongoing nature of the case, specific details are not being disclosed to the public at this time officials said.

Authorities are actively searching for an individual believed to be connected to the Olde Waterford Road homicide investigation officials said Friday. This individual has been identified as Pedro Argote, 49 years old, who is described as 5’7″ in height, weighing 130 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. It is suspected that Argote may be operating a silver 2009 Mercedes GL450, bearing Maryland registration plates 4EH0408.

Officials said the public is urged not to approach Argote if encountered but to notify law enforcement authorities.

Court records show that Wilkinson presided over Argote’s divorce case.

Officials are expected to hold a press conference regarding this case at 11:00 this morning.
