Police: Tactical Teams Arrest Home Invasion Suspect, Safe Recovered

Officials have arrested a suspect in a home invasion that occurred earlier this year.

On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division of the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Special Response Team members from both the Harford County Sheriff’s Office and the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office, executed a court-approved search warrant.

The operation took place at a residence situated in the 400 block of Blair Shore Road in Elkton according to officials. The primary objective of this operation was to secure evidence related to a home invasion that occurred on August 7, 2023, at a residence on Frederick Street in Charlestown, Maryland.

During the Charlestown incident it was reported that two masked individuals forcibly entered the residence, making contact with the occupants. The suspects were reported to be armed with handguns during the encounter, and they proceeded to remove firearms and a sum of cash belonging to the victims. Subsequent investigative efforts identified Dajuan Lee Ellerbe, a 24-year-old male, as one of the individuals involved in the home invasion according to police.

In the pre-dawn raid on the residence, law enforcement officials seized items of evidentiary value, which specifically included firearms and a safe belonging to the victims police said. Dajuan Lee Ellerbe was taken into custody as a result of the operation. He faces multiple charges, which include one count of home invasion, numerous burglary counts, assault in the first and second degree, the use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence, theft within the range of $1,500 to $25,000, and multiple counts related to firearms possession.
