Stolen Vehicle Leads To Two Arrests, Released On Unsecured Bond

Patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police have charged two juvenile suspects in connection with a vehicle theft investigation.

Officials said at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2023, officers discovered a stolen Hyundai Sonata in the unit block of Brookmont Drive in Newark.

When the officers approached the vehicle they found two 15-year-old suspects. Both teens were transported to the New Castle County Police headquarters for further processing. Their identities have been withheld due to their age.

One of the 15-year-old male suspect from Newark was charged with one felony count of receiving stolen property and one felony count of conspiracy in the second degree. Subsequently, he was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $4,000.00 unsecured bail.

Additionally, the second 15-year-old male suspect from Bear faced similar charges, including one felony count of receiving stolen property and one felony count of conspiracy in the second degree. Furthermore, this suspect was linked to a separate stolen vehicle incident and was charged with one felony count of attempted theft of a motor vehicle, one felony count of conspiracy in the second degree, one misdemeanor count of criminal mischief, and one misdemeanor count of tampering with a motor vehicle. Following these charges, he, too, was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $41,000.00 unsecured bail.
