Task Force Arrest Man On Felony Drug Charges

A Clayton resident is facing drug-related charges following a law enforcement operation that took place on October 16, 2023.

Officials said the arrest of Homer Coffman, 60, was the result of the execution of a search warrant at a residence on the 2000 block of Downs Chapel Road in Clayton.

The search warrant, obtained following an extensive investigation, was executed without any incident according to officials. During the search of the residence, law enforcement said they discovered approximately 52.7 grams of crystal methamphetamine, along with roughly $2,280 in cash. Various paraphernalia, including digital scales and distribution/packaging materials, were also found at the scene police said.

Coffman was transported to Troop 3 and was charged with multiple offenses. These charges include possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance tier 3 quantity (a felony), possession of a controlled substance tier 3 quantity (a felony), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Following the arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 2, Coffman was subsequently remanded to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $120,200 secured bond.

Officials said the operation was conducted by the Kent County Governor’s Task Force Detectives after a two-month-long drug investigation into suspected large-scale narcotics distribution.
