The Wilmington Police Department has taken two male juveniles into custody in connection with a recent armed carjacking incident. The incident occurred on October 19, at approximately 10:36 p.m., in the 1100 block of South Rodney Street.
Officials said in response to the reported carjacking, officers from the Uniformed Services Division arrived on the scene. They were provided with descriptions of the suspects and the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently located in the 800 block of North Harrison Street.
The Wilmington Police Department apprehended the suspects, who were identified as a 12-year-old male juvenile and a 14-year-old male juvenile. Both were taken into custody without any further incident.
The 12-year-old has been charged with several offenses, including robbery (First Degree), possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and conspiracy (Second Degree).
Following his arrest, the 12-year-old was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and has been committed to the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center. His bail has been set at $127,000, payable in cash only.
Similarly, the 14-year-old male juvenile faces charges that include robbery (First Degree), possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and conspiracy (Second Degree).
After his arrest, the 14-year-old was also arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and has been committed to the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center. His bail has been set at $127,000, payable in cash only.
