Woman Thought Kidnapped In Elsmere Safe, Police Say

On October 20, 2023, Elsmere Police did follow up on the report of the kidnapping that was reported on October 19, 2023 at the intersection of Leech Avenue and New Road.

Officials said with the public’s assistance, Elsmere Police were able to identify and make contact with the female Victim and determine that this incident was the result of a domestic dispute. The female is safe, and at this time the investigation is ongoing.

The Elsmere Police Department is actively seeking assistance from the public in an ongoing investigation into a possible kidnapping incident that occurred on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Officials said at approximately 1:05 PM, Elsmere Police responded to the area of New Road and Leech Avenue following a report of a kidnapping. Eyewitnesses in the vicinity told officers that they observed a dark-colored SUV with a trash bag partially covering the rear passenger-side window, parked at the corner of New Road and Leech Avenue. A light-skinned black male individual with curly hair was seen forcibly dragging a black female into the vehicle against her will according to police. The SUV then sped away, heading eastbound along New Road.

The Elsmere Police Department is urging anyone who was in the area of New Road and Leech Avenue at the time of the incident or possesses information that may aid in the investigation to come forward.
