Firefighters responded to a structure fire in Sussex County early Thursday morning. The incident was reported at approximately 6:54 am at a residence in the 36000 block of Mallard Drive in Roxana, Delaware.
The initial call indicated a fire in the back bedroom of a house trailer. Upon arrival, the first crews on the scene observed heavy smoke and reported that the trailer was fully engulfed in flames.
Concerns escalated when neighbors suggested that two individuals might be trapped inside the trailer. However, a thorough search conducted by the firefighters confirmed that all occupants were out of the home, as later reports indicated.
By 7:15 am, the commanding officer at the scene reported that the fire had been extinguished. Despite this, crews remained on-site to perform an overhaul, ensuring that all potential hotspots were addressed. The situation was declared under control at 7:21 am.
The Roxana Fire Company, Bethany Beach Fire Company, Ocean City Fire Department, and Sussex County Paramedics were among the emergency services that responded to the fire. The power company also responded to cut power to the home.
