Emergency crews from Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and Northern New Castle County, Delaware, responded to Interstate 95 Northbound for a crash.
Shortly before 5:30 AM on Saturday crews received reports of a motor vehicle accident involving entrapment just north of the state line.
The Claymont Fire Company, first to arrive found one individual trapped within a vehicle began extrication efforts. Crews reportedly had to remove the roof of the vehicle to gain access to the patient.
As part of the emergency response, Pennsylvania authorities ordered a closure of the impacted section of the interstate.
In an additional traffic control measure in Pennsylvania, I-95 Northbound was closed at Naamans Road by the New Castle County Fire Police and DelDOT. I-495 Northbound at Philadelphia Pike has also been closed. All motorists are being pushed into Chester.
Authorities have indicated that the closures are expected to last several hours as the rescue concludes and a subsequent investigation. The condition of the patient has not known at this time.
