Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police are actively investigating a shooting that took place on Halloween evening in the community of Salem Woods in Newark.
According to police, patrol officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Alvin Drive at 7:54 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in response to a shooting incident.
Upon arrival, officers located three victims with gunshot wounds. The victims have been identified as a 16-year-old male, a 17-year-old male, and a 20-year-old female. First aid was immediately administered by the officers and assisting Troopers from the Delaware State Police, including the use of tourniquets. All three victims were subsequently transported to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room for further medical treatment. Officials did not release the conditions of the victims.
This incident marks the second triple shooting in Delaware within a span of four days. On Sunday, October 29, 2023, 18-year-old Kylee Robinson of Laurel gunned down and two other wounded.
In that shooting, Troopers were called to the 500 block of West 7th Street in Laurel at approximately 2:47 p.m., where they found Robinson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the porch of a residence. He was transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead.
Two other victims, a 15-year-old male and a 13-year-old male, both residents of Laurel, were found with gunshot wounds to their lower extremities. They were also transported to an area hospital and are currently in stable condition.
Both investigations are actively underway, and law enforcement agencies are seeking information from the public to aid in their inquiries. The Newark shooting is being investigated by the New Castle County Police while the Laurel incident is being investigated by Delaware State Police.
