14-Year-Old Charged In New Castle Shooting

Detectives with the New Castle County Division of Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred in New Castle.

Officials said on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 9:40 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Highland Boulevard for a shooting that just occurred. Officers arrived on the scene and located a 19-year-old male victim who had been shot multiple times in his lower body. Also struck by gunfire were multiple occupied residences and parked vehicles police said.

Following the investigation, a 14-year-old male from New Castle was identified as a suspect, and a warrant for his arrest warrant was obtained.

The suspect was taken into custody by the Delaware State Police, Wilmington Police Department, and NCCPD on Thursday, December 28, 2023 following yesterday’s multi-state crime spree.

He was charged with one felony count of assault in the first degree, one felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, one felony count of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and six felony count of reckless endangering in the first degree. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of $176,000 cash bail.
