New Castle County Police are investigating a crash that left a woman trapped Tuesday morning.

New Castle County Spokesman Oliver Kocher said the motor vehicle accident with entrapment occurred this morning on Brackenville Road in the area of Mill Creek Road.

The incident was reported at approximately 8:50 am, prompting a response from several agencies including New Castle County Paramedics, Hockessin Fire Company, Cranston Heights Fire Company, New Castle County Police, and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC).

Upon their arrival, the responding units confirmed that a vehicle had veered down an embankment into a creek, with one individual trapped inside. On arrival, crews discovered a 90-year-old female patient, still trapped in the vehicle and under the care of EMTs. While the rescue personnel focused on extricating the patient, paramedics provided essential on-scene care.

The patient, who was trapped for approximately 25 minutes, was eventually freed from the vehicle. She was transported up the embankment and subsequently to Christiana Hospital via an ambulance from the Hockessin Fire Company, accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics.

At the time of transport, the patient was reported to be in stable condition. She suffered possible hypothermic injuries due to the circumstances of the accident.
