Rockwood Park & Museum is set to host a holiday celebration on December 1 and 2, 2023, from 5 to 9 p.m. both evenings. This festive event, accessible with a free shuttle service and parking at 501 Carr Road, also offers designated parking for those with disabilities and buses.
The festivities will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the much-anticipated arrival of Santa Claus. Throughout the evening until 9:00 p.m., visitors can enjoy a range of activities including visits with Santa, exploring a holiday market, engaging in various crafts, and savoring an array of refreshments from food trucks. The holiday experience includes holiday train rides, costumed characters, and a mounted patrol adding.
A highlight of the evening will be the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:15 p.m. The ceremony will feature a menorah and a performance by the Mount Pleasant High School Choir.
The entertainment schedule is packed with a variety of performances. On Friday, the Hemlock Tree area will host the tree lighting ceremony and choir performance. The Outside Tent will feature a DJ set, a performance by the Mount Pleasant Choir, and more DJ music later in the evening. The Carriage House offers a diverse lineup including Bayard School, Melodic Movements, holiday story time with a special guest reader, performances by the Delaware Arts Conservatory, and the Small Wonder Jazz Singers.
Inside the Mansion, guests can enjoy performances by the Delaware Children’s Theater, the Mount Pleasant H.S. Flute Quartet, and the Mount Pleasant H.S. Ensemble.
Saturday’s schedule features a DJ, JK Percussions and Arts, and more DJ music in the Outside area. The Carriage House will host performances by Citlali De Mexico, Pieces of a Dream, Fierce Dance Academy, the St. Marks High School Dance Team, and The Imagination Players. In the Mansion, there will be a performance by Sophia DiLeo.
Food vendors available on both nights include DonutNV, Maddy’s Kitchen, Mojo Loco, and Zaikka on Wheels, offering a variety of delightful treats to complement the holiday cheer.
