On December 18, 2023, officers from Ocean View observed a vehicle driven by Deandre C. White, 34, of Ocean View, who was known to have a suspended driver’s license and existing warrants for arrest due to probation violations officials said Tuesday.
An officer accompanied by K9 Leo, conducted a scan of White’s vehicle for narcotics, leading to K9 Leo’s alert on the car and to the discovery of heroin and cash. according to the police.
Subsequently, a search warrant was executed at White’s residence, outside the Ocean View town limits. The raid, conducted around 5:00 pm, involved the Ocean View police, along with support from Bethany Beach, South Bethany, and Fenwick Island police departments. Additional heroin was discovered in a room occupied by a minor police said.
Chief McLaughlin of the Ocean View Police highlighted the ongoing threat of heroin and fentanyl to the community and commended the efforts of the officers and K9 Leo. The K9 program was particularly praised for its role in combating drug-related crimes.
As a result of these operations, the following individuals were charged:
Deandre C. White (34) of Ocean View, DE, faced multiple charges including the manufacture, delivery, and possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession and consumption of a controlled or counterfeit substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of a child, driving while suspended or revoked, and three counts of violation of probation. White was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute on a $36,410 cash bail.
Julie R. Clemens (32), also of Ocean View, DE, was charged with possession and consumption of a controlled or counterfeit substance and endangering the welfare of a child. Clemens was released pending arraignment in the Court of Common Pleas.
