The Rite Aid Corporation, following its recent filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, has announced the closure of more than 150 of its locations as part of a broader restructuring plan. This initiative aims to address the company’s financial challenges and optimize its store portfolio.
In addition to the closures that were announced in October, two more Newark-area Rite Aid locations are scheduled to shut down next month. The Rite Aid on South Main Street is set to close on January 18 and the Rite Aid at 1602 Capitol Trail will close its doors on January 23.
Customers have been receiving notices in the mail informing them of the impending closures, according to messages received by First State Update readers in the Newark area.
To minimize disruption for its customers, Rite Aid has stated that prescriptions held by patients at these stores will be transferred to other pharmacies.
