Seaford Man Charged With Robbing Two Banks

The Seaford Police Department has arrested Branden D. Abbott, 29, of Seaford for robbing a M&T Bank branch twice.

Police said the second incident occurred Thursday morning when Seaford Police officers were alerted to a robbery at the M&T Bank located at the intersection of Sussex Highway and Herring Run Road.

When the initial officer arrived on the scene at approximately 9:20, a witness advised that the suspect was wearing camouflage clothing and was currently walking behind the Seaford Village Shopping Center.

The information was passed on to other responding officers who observed a subject on Jet Ave and contacted him. A search of the area produced clothing items matching that of the robbery suspect, discarded in a dumpster police said.

After further investigation, the subject was identified as Branden D. Abbott and identified as the suspect in the robbery. Evidence further identified Abbott as the suspect who committed a similar bank robbery at the same M&T Bank branch on 12/13/2023 according to police.

Abbott was transported to the Seaford Police Department where he was charged with 2 counts of Robbery 1st, 2 counts of Wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and 1 count of Tampering with evidence. Abbott was presented to Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Department of Corrections on $111,000 cash bail.
