Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that sent two to the hospital Wednesday, one by air.
Just after 3:30 this afternoon a motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of North Dupont Highway and School Lane, prompting a response from multiple emergency services. New Castle County Paramedics, Wilmington Manor Fire Company, Goodwill Fire Company, and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the collision involved four-passenger cars and two tractor-trailers. A 65-year-old male was significantly trapped in one of the vehicles and had to be extricated by fire department personnel. He was subsequently treated for possible internal injuries by New Castle County Paramedics. Due to the severity of his condition, he was airlifted by the Delaware State Police Aviation unit to Christiana Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
Additionally, a Goodwill Fire Company basic life support ambulance transported a 40-year-old female to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Three other individuals involved in the collision declined medical treatment at the scene.
