Earlier this month, officers from New Castle County’s Special Operations Section opened an investigation into alleged drug dealing activities.
Police said they discovered that the suspects using the mail to ship and receive packages containing drugs. The investigation led to the identification of 22-year-old Sierra Barrett (left) from Newark and 49-year-old Tracie Roark (right) from Wilmington as the main suspects.
As the investigation deepened, multiple search warrants were executed, leading to the discovery of a range of evidence. Officials said this included a Tec-9 9mm pistol with an obliterated serial number, a Polymer 80 9mm handgun, and a Taurus 9mm handgun. Additionally, a significant quantity of drugs was seized, comprising approximately 20 pounds of marijuana, 3 pounds of psilocybin, and 100 doses of LSD. Officers also found various THC-infused items and cartridges, along with drug paraphernalia not meant for personal use according to police. Over $36,000 in suspected drug proceeds was also confiscated.
Barrett and Roark were both arrested and transported to the New Castle County Police headquarters. Sierra Barrett faced several charges, including one felony count each for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number, and conspiracy in the second degree, in addition to six felony drug-related charges. She was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held on a $337,250 cash bail.
Tracie Roark was charged with one felony count each for manufacture/deliver/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a tier 3 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in a tier 3 quantity, and conspiracy in the second degree. Her arraignment took place at the same court, and she was held on a $122,000 cash bail.
