Police on Tuesday announced that they have made an arrest in the 2012 shooting death of a University of Delaware.
On Monday, November 12, 2012, at approximately 9:20 p.m., police officers responded to a shooting in the area of 211 Thorn Lane, Studio Green Apartments in Newark.
The victim, Peter DiSabatino, was discovered lying on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital, where he died shortly after arrival.
Cold Case Homicide Squad Detectives continued the investigation by re-examining evidence and re-interviewing witnesses. Through their investigation, Cold Case Homicide Squad Detectives identified 33-year-old Alando Dale as a suspect police said Tuesday.
On January 16, 2024, with the assistance and support of the Delaware Department of Justice, the case was presented to a grand jury and an indictment was obtained for Alando Dale.
On January 29, 2024, Dale was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Task Force and the NCCPD Special Investigations Squad. Dale was arraigned by New Castle County Superior Court in reference to charges of murder in the first degree and murder in the first degree (caused death during the commission of a felony).
Bail was set at $1,000,000.00 and he was transported to Howard R Young Correctional Institution.
