Philly Man Charged In Robbery Near Newark Police Station

On Tuesday morning, just before 11:45, Newark Police responded to Park and Shop Liquors, 245 South Main Street, across the street from the Newark police Station, for a report of a robbery. 

Responding officers contacted the male clerk.  The clerk advised that a male subject entered the business and confronted the clerk while raising his fist. 

Police said the suspect demanded property from the victim.  A scuffle between the clerk and the suspect ensued, during which time they exited the store.  The clerk locked himself back in the store and the suspect fled with personal property belonging to the victim.

Responding Newark Police officers located the suspect a short distance away and took him into custody without incident.

The suspect, identified as Joseph Stull, 48, of Philadelphia, was transported to Newark Police headquarters where he was charged with Robbery Second Degree.  Stull appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 by video and was ordered to be held in default of $2,000 secured 

The victim was not injured and no weapons were involved.
