Just before 4:00 Tuesday morning, firefighters were dispatched to The Outlet Smoke Shop, located at 4540 Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington, following reports of smoke coming from the establishment. Upon their arrival, the crews reported smoke showing at the front of the store. The incident commander on-site confirmed that the firefighters were actively engaging the fire.
Approximately 20 minutes into the operation, the incident was declared under control by the commanding officer. During the incident, one individual was assessed for potential injuries at the scene. However, they were not transported for further medical treatment.
Both Kirkwood Highway and Limestone Road were temporarily closed during the incident. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
