New Castle County Police are investigating a rollover crash that occurred early Sunday morning.
The accident, reported just before 2:30, near the intersection of Limestone Road and Kirkwood Highway, drew a response from the Mill Creek Fire Company and New Castle County Paramedics. Several New Castle County Police officers also arrived immediately as the crash occurred.
Despite the initial call for medical assistance, the New Castle County Paramedics were later canceled by the EMTs already at the scene. This may suggest that the driver involved in the rollover did not sustain life-threatening injuries. It’s unclear if the driver was transported to a hospital for further evaluation.
In response to the incident, the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) was aslo requested to the scene to repair damaged signal equipment.
As a result of the crash and subsequent investigations by the police, traffic was impacted in the area. Northbound Limestone Road and westbound Kirkwood Highway were both closed for approximately an hour.
The circumstances leading to the crash are unclear, however, it is notable that this would normally be the Delaware State Police’s jurisdiction.
