Police: Felton Bar Argument Ends In Gunfire Sunday

Delaware State Police have updated a story that only First State Update told you about this morning.

Troopers have arrested 66-year-old Terry Bratton of Milton following a shooting that occurred Sunday morning in Felton.

Officials said on January 7, 2024, at approximately 1:32 a.m., troopers responded to Green Stinger Sports Bar, located at 9996 South Dupont Highway in Felton, for a report of a shooting that had occurred in the parking lot of the bar.

The preliminary investigation showed that Bratton and several other people were involved in an argument inside when the bar was closing according to police. The group continued to argue in the parking lot, at which point, Bratton pulled a gun from his right side and shot the victim police said Monday. Police did not mention in their statement how the argument started.

Responding troopers learned that the 28-year-old Lincoln man, who had been shot, had been transported to Bay Health Sussex in a personal vehicle prior to their arrival.

Troopers were also advised that Bratton, was in the parking lot, pointing the firearm at people. He remained at the scene until troopers arrived and was taken into custody without incident.

Bratton was transported to Troop 3 where he was charged with Assault 1st Degree (Felony), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (Felony) – six counts. He was also charged with Terroristic Threatening – 4 counts, and Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence.

He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $161,000 secured bond.

FSU has learned that the man who was shot was later transported to Christiana Hospital.

Delaware State Police are reportedly investigating an incident that ended in a shooting Sunday in Felton.

Several sources familiar with the incident tell FSU that a man was shot in the parking lot of a business in the 9000 block of Dupont Highway at around 1:30 Sunday morning. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene but did not transfer the person who was shot.

Information surrounding the incident has not been released by the authorities, however, we have been able to confirm that the person who was reportedly shot was taken to Bay Health Sussex by personal vehicle. The nature of the man’s injuries is unknown at this time.

We’re told that a subject is in custody. That information will be provided when police release additional details.
