Quick Response Leads To Multiple Felony Charges

Officers with the New Castle County Division of Police have apprehended 29-year-old Juan Sanchez of New Castle following an investigation into several burglaries.

Officials said on January 2, 2024, C and D Squad Officers responded to the unit blocks of Dunsinane Drive and Jaymar Blvd. for reports of burglaries that had just occurred where the rear glass sliding doors were broken.

Surveillance video and witness statements were collected which provided a suspect description. While investigating these burglaries, another in-progress burglary came in for the unit block of Clover Mills Drive with a matching description of the suspect from the earlier burglaries police said. Officers were on scene within minutes and were able to take the suspect into custody. The suspect had property from the victim’s residence on his person according to police. Another burglary was later discovered at the 200 block of Jaymar Boulevard. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit Property Squad responded to assume the investigations. The suspect was identified as 29-year-old Juan Sanchez of New Castle. He was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters and charged with 2 felony counts of attempted burglary first-degree, 1 felony count of attempted burglary in the second-degree, 2 felony counts of burglary in the second degree, 2 felony counts of theft, and misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief

He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of $77,000 cash bail. This is still an active and ongoing investigation. Any individual with information or surveillance/doorbell video is asked to please get in touch with the Criminal Investigations Unit.
