19-Year-Old Charged With Murder In Laurel Shooting Death

Authorities make an arrest in September in a fatal Laurel shooting.

On September 10, 2023, around 9:35 p.m., the Laurel Police Department received reports of a shooting incident within the town limits of Laurel, Delaware, specifically near West Sixth Street.

Law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene where they found Taylor German, a 26-year-old resident of Laurel, inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save his life, German was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, a 41-year-old man from Millsboro was discovered with gunshot injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. He has since been released.

Investigations revealed that an unidentified individual or individuals fired upon a vehicle carrying the victims and another person at the entrance of the Little Creek Apartments. After the shooting, the victims managed to reach West Sixth Street, where they were met by police and medical assistance was administered.

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation, leading to developments in the case. Azzure Horsey, 19, of Laurel, Delaware, was identified as a suspect State Police said Wednesday. Following an indictment by a Sussex County Grand Jury on February 13, 2024, Horsey was arrested on February 14, 2024, without incident. He faces charges including Murder First Degree, two counts of Attempted Murder, five counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Conspiracy First Degree, Assault Second Degree, and Reckless Endangering First Degree. Horsey was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $3,260,000 cash bond.
