Four Firefighters Injured In Newark Rollover Crash

A fire engine from the Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder Company, of the Newark Fire Department, was involved in a rollover accident late Friday evening, leaving four firefighters injured.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on February 9, 2024, as the engine was turning from Elkton Road onto Christiana Parkway. Authorities confirmed that the fire engine was not responding to a call at the time of the accident and that no other vehicles were involved.

Four firefighters were transported to Christiana Hospital following the incident. One firefighter is reported to be in serious but stable condition, while the other three have been described as stable.

The Newark Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. The roadway was closed for several hours while the accident was investigated and cleared.
