On February 28, 2024, at approximately 1:58 AM officers from the Newark Police Department responded to a residence on Wyncliff Lane, off Paper Mill Road, for a burglar alarm and a reported burglary.
Upon arriving officers contacted the victims, who were home at the time of the incident. Police said their early investigation shows that the unknown suspects forced entry into the residence, causing the alarm to activate, sound, and alert the residents. The suspects were then confronted in the home by a resident, at which point the suspects ran from the residence. During the initial investigation, it was discovered that the suspects also appeared to have attempted to enter another residence in the area, along Cook Way, which is near the Wyncliff Lane location.
The case is being investigated by detectives assigned to the Newark Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU). Detectives are asking residents in the area to check their cameras and security systems for any videos or images from February 27, 2024, at 11:00 PM to February 28, 2024, at 3:30 AM.
