On Thursday, a sequence of events unfolded involving law enforcement agencies across different jurisdictions in Delaware.
It began with a request from the Laurel Police Department to the Milford Police Department, urging them to be on the lookout for a silver Kia Forte linked to a shots fired incident within Laurel’s town limits. The vehicle, reportedly associated with a Milford address, was eventually spotted by Milford patrol officers at a BP gas station on NW Front Street.
Upon attempting to engage with the individuals in the vehicle, two of them fled in a southeast direction while three others were detained at the scene. Laurel Police responded and took custody of both the vehicle and the detained individuals. Subsequently, a joint effort involving Milford, Laurel, and Delaware State Police, including both patrol and aviation units, began a search for the fleeing suspects.
During this search, one of the subjects was located and subsequently turned over to Laurel Police custody.
The incident began around 2:32 PM, Laurel Police Department received reports of shots fired along Discount Land Road near Hollybrook Apartments. Multiple callers alerted authorities to the incident. Upon arrival, evidence of the shooting was discovered, leading to the closure of the area for investigation, with an escalated police presence established.
Initial investigations revealed that two black male subjects had discharged multiple rounds from a silver 2015 Kia Forte, which remained at large along with the suspects.
