The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that unfolded just before 4:30 Monday morning in the 1700 block of North Pine Street.
Prior to being alerted to a victim, officers converged on the area after the shotspotter system picked up five rounds. Authorities said that when officers responded to the scene, they discovered a 31-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. They immediately called for an ambulance.
The man was transported to an area hospital in stable condition for treatment of his wounds.
The Wilmington Police Department is in the preliminary stages of its investigation, working to gather evidence. Authorities are asking to the public for any information that may assist in the case.
