Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with a February fatal shooting incident.
Officials said on February 20, at approximately 4:34 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 600 block of East 8th Street, in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, police located a gunshot victim, 28-year-old Davahne Davis, who arrived to the hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
The case was assigned to Detective Derek Haines of the Criminal Investigation Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Haines was able to identify 27-year-old Nazier Johnson as a the suspect and obtain warrants for his arrest police said Monday. On March 7, at approximately 7:00 a.m., police executed a search warrant in the 900 block of McDowell Avenue in Chester, Pennsylvania. Johnson was taken into custody without incident, and police recovered a loaded .357 caliber handgun. On March 15, Johnson was extradited to Delaware.
Johnson has been charged with the following offenses:
- Murder (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $1,000,000 cash-only bail.
