Delaware State Police arrested 58-year-old Wade Bowersox of Bethel, Delaware, for a 6th offense felony DUI early Friday morning in Laurel.
Officials said on March 15, 2024, at approximately 12:32 a.m., a trooper on patrol observed a red Ford F-250 fail to maintain its lane as it was traveling westbound on County Seat Highway, west of Sussex Highway in Laurel.
The trooper observed the Ford commit several additional traffic violations, and conducted a traffic stop officials said. Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Wade Bowersox, the trooper observed multiple signs of impairment police said Tuesday. The trooper administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and Bowersox was subsequently taken into custody without incident for driving under the influence.
A computer inquiry revealed Bowersox had five prior DUI-related convictions added police. Bowersox was transported to Troop 5, where he was charged with 6th Offense DUI (Felony), Speeding in Excess of 50 MPH, Failed to Remain within a Single Lane, Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession, and Failure to Use Turn Signal.
He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $6,503 cash bond.
