Patrol Officers with the New Castle County Division of Police have charged 27-year-old Zachary Jewell of New Castle with multiple crimes following a domestic investigation.
On Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 12:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to the female Victim’s residence and learned on March 23, 2024, Jewell got into a domestic with his girlfriend at his residence in New Castle, according to police.
Officials said During the investigation, it was discovered that Jewell and the Victim began having a verbal argument when he grabbed the Victim by her neck and began choking her. The Victim then attempted to leave the residence several times throughout the night, however, Jewell forcefully prevented her from doing so police said. On March 24, 2024, he drove the Victim to another location when the Victim then called and reported the incident to the police.
On Monday Jewell turned himself into New Castle County Police and was charged with One felony count of strangulation, one felony count of unlawful imprisonment second-degree, one misdemeanor count of offensive touching, and one misdemeanor count of menacing.
He was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to pay $7,000.00 secured bail.
