The New Castle County Division of Police has arrested a 16-year-old male from Wilmington with multiple theft-related charges.
On Monday, April 22, 2024, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Troopers from the Delaware State Police were attempting to locate a stolen 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe in the area of Parma Avenue, when they noticed several cars on Parma Avenue that appeared to have been broken into and ransacked.
Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to Parma Avenue and assumed the investigation. During the investigation, surveillance footage showed several suspects in the stolen Hyundai Santa Fe, and then the 16-year-old male walked down Parma Avenue and entered parked cars along the roadway according to police.
Officials said at approximately 8:00 a.m., the stolen Hyundai Santa Fe was located in the City of Wilmington and the 16-year-old male, matching the description of the suspect on Parma Avenue, was taken into custody and transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged with five felony counts of conspiracy second degree, four felony counts of burglary third-degree, one felony count of attempt to commit theft of a motor vehicle, Three misdemeanor counts of attempt to commit theft under $1500., One misdemeanor count of theft under $1500, and one misdemeanor count of criminal mischief.
He also had two outstanding warrants from the New Castle County Division of Police for felony counts of receiving stolen property over $1500.
He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and held after failing to pay a $10,500 secure bond.
