The Dover Police Department has arrested Breshawn Best,19, of Dover, on murder charges, following a shooting that occurred Sunday night.
Officials said the investigation began on April 14, 2024, at 8:33 p.m., when Dover Police Department was called for a shooting in the area of South Governors Avenue and West Reed Street. Officers responded and located the victim, a 15-year-old Dover boy, who had sustained gun hot wounds as a result of the shooting. He was pronounced dead on scene. The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notifications.
The investigation showed the victim was walking in the area of West Reed Street and South Governors Avenue when a group of suspects ambushed him and fired multiple shots at the victim police said. Through the investigation, Breshawn Best was identified as one of the people responsible for this shooting added authorities. Best was located and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to Dover Police Department to be processed and arraigned.
He was committed to SCI on $1,086,000 cash bail on charges of Murder First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony, Possession of Ammunition By a Person Prohibited, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and Conspiracy First Degree.
