Crash On Route 9 Sends Two To Hospital Friday

Just before 7:00 Friday evening, a traffic collision occurred at the intersection of River Road and Hamburg Road in New Castle.

The crash reportedly involved a collision that resulted in two individuals sustaining injuries, with one trapped. Upon the emergency crews’ arrival, they confirmed one person was trapped within the wreckage, necessitating a rescue operation.

After several minutes the trapped patient was free from the wreckage. Both injured parties were transported to Christiana Hospital by ground. The nature and extent of their injuries were not disclosed.

Crews from the Delaware City Fire Company, Port Penn Fire Company, New Castle County Paramedics, and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to the call. The helicopter was later recalled.
