Law enforcement is currently investigating a robbery that occurred in the parking lot of Canby Park Shopping Center on Maryland Avenue in Wilmington.
State Police said the incident took place on the evening of April 20, 2024, around 9:36 p.m., near the China Dragon Restaurant.
According to reports, a 35-year-old man was assaulted as he was entering his car by two individuals who then proceeded to rob him of his money. Following the assault, the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle heading towards Maryland Avenue. The victim sustained minor injuries and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male, estimated to be between 35 and 40 years old, last seen wearing a hat, a white t-shirt, and blue sweatpants. The second suspect is also described as a Hispanic male, around 35 years old, wearing a navy t-shirt, gray pants, and gray sneakers.
The Troop 2 Robbery Unit of the Delaware State Police is leading the investigation. Detective J. Dempsey is handling the case and urges anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to come forward and contact the detective at 302-365-8520.
