Violent weekend in Dover reportedly leaves multiple people shot, two fatally

The Dover Police Department is investigating a series of shootings that have left the community on edge. The initial incident occurred early Sunday morning just before 1:30 AM, where emergency response crews were dispatched to the 100 block of Lockerman Street following reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, responders found two individuals with gunshot injuries, who were immediately transported to Kent General Hospital for medical attention. The status of these individuals was initially unclear. Subsequent reports indicate that a male victim succumb to his injuries at the hospital however, police have not confirmed those details.

Later that same day, around 8:30 PM, another shooting reportedly took place, this time resulting in a confirmed fatality. It has been reported that this second incident happened near the Dover Fire Department station on Governors Avenue, where a vigil was apparently being held for one of the victims of the morning shooting. The person who died Sunday evening sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including head wounds.

There are also unconfirmed accounts suggesting that the morning shooting involved at least one assailant on a motorcycle who fired into a crowd. However, the Dover Police Department has yet to verify the specifics of these events or the connections between them, if at all.

The situation remains fluid, further details are expected to be released later today.
