On Monday, May 6, 2024, at approximately 4:04 p.m. Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of Faulkland Road regarding a motor vehicle accident with pedestrians struck.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they learned that a maroon Hyundai Santa Fe operated by a 17-year-old male was traveling westbound on Faulkland Road approaching Centerville Road, when the Hyundai Santa Fe crossed the double yellow line into the opposite lane of travel and struck a 10-year-old male and a 12-year-old male that were on the sidewalk on the south side of Faulkland Road. After striking the two pedestrians the Hyundai Santa Fe continued traveling until it struck the home on the southwest corner of the Faulkland Road officials said.
All the individuals that were involved in this incident were immediately provided with medical care by the Officers and Emergency Medical Services that had arrived at the scene.
The 17-year-old driver was transported to Christiana Hospital for his injuries and was treated and released.
The 12-year-old pedestrian was transported to Nemours Children’s Hospital for his injuries and treated and released.
The 10-year-old pedestrian was transported to Nemours Children’s Hospital and later pronounced deceased.
