The Dover Police Department has announced the arrest of William Mills, 59, of Dover, in connection with the murder of Jonair Pollard, 29, also of Dover. Pollard was fatally shot on May 25th in the Capital Green area.
Officials said on Saturday evening, the Dover Police Department responded to a call reporting a shooting in the area of New Castle Avenue and East Water Street at 4:22 p.m. Officers found Pollard with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus for treatment but was pronounced dead at the hospital due to his injuries.
Dober Police said Detectives identified Mills as the suspect responsible for the shooting. On Sunday, the Dover Police Department’s Special Operations Response Team executed a search warrant at Mills’ residence on East Wind Drive in Dover, Mills was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Dover Police Department for processing and arraignment.
Mills faces the following charges:
- Murder First Degree
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
He is currently held at SCI on $250,000 cash bail. Mills is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
