Man Trapped In Newark Area Crash Saturday

Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that left one man hospitalized Saturday.

Officials said at approximately 9:30 a.m., New Castle County Paramedics and the Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company were dispatched to South Chapel Street near Pencader Plaza following in Newark for reports of a motor vehicle collision with entrapment. The incident involved a pickup truck and a sedan, resulting in the driver of the sedan being trapped in the vehicle for about 10 minutes.

The driver, a 78-year-old male, was successfully extricated and transported by New Castle County Paramedics on board an Aetna ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton. He was reported to be in stable condition, suffering from an extremity injury and possible internal injuries.
