The Seaford Police Department has issued warrants for Gerald B. Watkins, 51, of Seaford, following an incident in which he allegedly struck an occupied Probation and Parole (P&P) vehicle and then fled, according to authorities.
Officials said that on May 2, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m., officers of the Seaford Police Department were called to the area of Bridgeville Highway and Dutton Avenue to assist Probation and Parole. It was reported that P&P officers had observed a suspect in a stopped vehicle in the area of Independence Drive and Nylon Avenue.
The P&P officers reportedly attempted to exit their vehicle to contact the suspect in reference to an active breach of release warrant, but the suspect sped off, striking the P&P vehicle, officials said. The suspect then continued to Bridgeville Highway, where he abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods. Despite an extensive search, authorities were unable to locate the suspect.
An additional arrest warrant was issued for Watkins on new charges: reckless endangering, criminal mischief, and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, resisting arrest, and related offenses, according to authorities.
Police urged anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect to contact the Seaford Police Department.
