Police: Woman Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver Tuesday

On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 3:45 p.m., patrol officers with the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the 1600 block of Telegraph Road for a report of a pedestrian struck by a car, which then fled the scene according to police.

Upon arrival, officers located a 44-year-old female who had sustained injuries after being hit by a vehicle. She was transported to a local hospital, where she received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Traffic Services Unit was dispatched to the scene and has taken over the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that the striking vehicle is possibly a navy/midnight blue or black, newer model SUV. Witnesses have suggested that it might be a Honda or Hyundai. The vehicle is reported to have a dent and multiple white scratches on the driver’s side, and it may be operated by an elderly individual police said.
