Route 1 Crash Snarls Monday Morning Commute

The Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that sent one man to the hospital early Monday morning.

The incident occurred atop the Roth Bridge in Bear just after 6:15. Crews from several area fire companies along with New Castle County Paramedics and Delaware State Police, were among the first to arrive.

The crash resulted in one individual, identified as a male, being transported to Christiana Hospital with undisclosed injuries. In response to the incident, authorities initially ordered the closure of the northbound lanes to facilitate the arrival of emergency crews.

As of the latest update, the two left lanes remain closed to traffic while accident scene is cleared.
