Troopers Identify Frankford Man Killed In Crash Late Tuesday

Delaware State Police are currently investigating a fatal crash that took place in Frankford on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred on May 28, 2024, at approximately 10:25 when a Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Frankford School Road, just south of Thatcher Street. As the vehicle exited a curve, the driver lost control, causing the car to veer off the east side of the road. The vehicle traveled through a grassy area, struck a fence, and ended up in a ditch, resulting in the car overturning police said Wednesday.

Officials said the driver, 45-year-old Wayne Wheeler, Jr, of Frankford, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Emergency services transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The crash led to the closure of the roadway for approximately three hours as police conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.
